You Are Chosen

“Red rover, red rover send somebody over”, we would all say together, then hold on tight. The purpose of the game was to line up, join together in a single row by connecting your hands, then win by keeping members from the other team from busting through the human chain. If you remember the game, you know that there was always somebody that nobody wanted on their team.

I was that girl; weak, scrawny and un-chosen.  If you are the last pick, they don’t even call your name. As somebody whispers, “not her,” you just walk the walk of shame and hope the big guy on the other team doesn’t break your arm. Trying not to let it get to me, I would play tough. The game hurt my arms, but more than that, it hurt my heart. I was never chosen.

Life is full of let-downs and if we are not careful, we will get caught up in the moments we are the last pick, or perhaps not picked at all.  The enemy will convince us we are not worthy, not loved and never capable of being good enough.

“But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you – from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” 1 Peter 2:9-10 The Message

Child of God, don’t forget who you are. Don’t forget to whom you belong. His love for us is not based on being good enough but being his.

Thank you, Jesus, for choosing me, for calling me out of darkness into light. I have worth not because of what I can do but because of what you have done for me. My life is R E M A D E because of you, Becky.
